 ADCS and Orincon Contributions

Like MZM, two other small local companies – ADCS and Orincon – had their government sales take off after they both made unusually high and, unprecedented for them, contributions to Cunningham.

Their respective $16,000 and $13,600 contributions ranked them just behind the #1 contributor, the noted Carlyle Group, and it was ahead of all the usual and much larger, billion-dollar-company donors in the 2001 cycle. Like MZM, they enjoyed significant growth after contributing.

Do you suppose it was all just a nice coincidence?

John,
I'm a reporter with Copley in Washington. I just now saw your post. If you have any insights or suggestions re peeling this onion, I'd be grateful if you'ld let me know. You were definitely ahead of the curve on Orincon.

 Cunningham: follow the money

Follow the money — William Goldman, All the President's Men

Of course it's not a coincidence. Cunningham hasn't seen a defense program that he doesn't like. Political contributions are certainly helpful and may have major influence.

The difference with MZM (from ADCS and Orincon and others) is it appears MZM apparently has bribed Cunningham with poorly-hidden gifts in cash and goods.

Even these apparent bribes don't fully explain Cunningham's lavish lifestyle. How can he afford a Rancho Santa Fe home, even with (inflated) equity from his Del Mar home and two salaries, his and his wife's, with no other significant income? Most Members of Congress do not live like this!

So, it could be ADCS or Orincon, or it could be more hidden gifts from MZM, or someone else entirely. These are certainly good starting points. If the FBI or Justice Department are serious, they can look at his bank accounts, which reporters can't do, let alone the public, and hopefully get to the bottom of this.

I remember hearing of a technique the FBI and CIA use to tell who's a double agent, or being bribed by organized crime. A dead giveaway are the agents with a lavish lifestyle that's way out-of-line of one or two incomes.

ADCS and Orincon also contributed significantly to Cunningham's personal PAC, the, American Prosperity Political Action Committee.

Also, today's paper details the cozy relationship of ADCS to Cunningham as was previously posted here.

Mitch: Once again, I have to hand it to you. GREAT post...really well written.

How do you do it? What's your secret? Did you go to school for that? I can only wish I was able to write with such penetrating clarity and sense of subject that seems to come so easily to you.

I'm your biggest fan.

BTW: Using a double negative means a positive.
Example: "I didn't do nothing wrong." <—- This means that you DID do something wrong. The English language is kinda tricky that way....
